For my husband’s birthday, I drew a glamour shot of his D&D 4E human rogue, Aerilles. He seems very happy with the result. :3 Thanks to everyone who watched me stream this!

I haven’t posted phone doodles for awhile, because I haven’t had much occasion to be on the phone lately…until tonight! I got drunk dialled by a dear friend (her drunk calls are THE BEST <3), so I picked up my pencil and doodled some Love & Corruption stuff while we had a nice awesome long chat. Bottom one might be developed into a proper pic one day. Maybe.
Like all phone doodles, these are super rough because my mind was on the conversation, and my pencil just kinda wiggled around. :) But I thought I’d post them anyway, because I haven’t been posting much art lately. Doodles are something, at least…something… ._.
I’m not going to be around Tumblr much for a few days.
As an apology in advance, please accept a hasty pic of early-20s-Noatak standing in the sun on a beautiful clear day, because I needed a sunshiny doodle on my blog.
I was lucky enough to get to see Syd Mead give a lecture this evening, on the importance of story in art/design. It was a wonderful lecture.
What really blew my mind was the answer to an audience question.
Mr. Mead was asked, at what point in his career did he stop feeling like he was “faking it until he made it” — at what point did he realize he was a master of his craft?
His response floored me: “Never.”
This is a man who has been a professional artist since the late ’50s, who has inspired countless artists and aesthetics around the world!
What’s more, he framed it as a positive thing: the second someone thinks of themselves as a master, they stop growing. When it comes to creativity, he said, “hubris kills.”
So there you are, fellow creative types: the only people who ever feel 100% that they know what they’re doing are the ones who have stagnated. Embrace the flaws you see in your own craft. They are room to grow. We may never feel like masters, but that’s actually a good thing. <3
I love both Calvin Harris and Florence Welch!!! Awww I’m so glad it gave you Cave feels. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 You inspired me to do a few Cave!Amorra doodles while listening to the song. Just doodle quality, nothing great, but here they are.

I probably shouldn’t even post these, but I just needed to do SOMETHING because I’m at home with this stupid illness while all my friends are at a farewell party for my other friend who’s moving away and *sniffle*~
Decided to doodle some scenes from L&C. Lieumon first, probably Amorra later, probably Makorra never (because let’s face it, their story in this one is not pretty).
He sat, leaving a one-seat gap, and signalled to the bartender for a beer. With a casual glance at the boy, he added, “You look like you’re new around here, lad. Can I get you a drink?”
“No,” replied the boy without looking at him. His voice was surprisingly deep, and Kwan felt the word vibrate through his spine.
“Come on. I had a bit of a windfall today. Let me spread the joy.”
With a shrug, the boy said, “Ice wine.”
Expensive tastes, but this close, Kwan could see glimpses of perfect white teeth, and he found himself desperate to impress the kid.
I’m sorry, I’ll try to put up something a bit better for these two later, because I really do love them. <3
So I go to do a super quick doodle for Amorra week, and I get glowy/sparkly Korrlok instead…
Uh.
I finally caught up on Strings and I think it messed with my brain.

Her nose almost touches his, and he stares into the burning red eyes. Black energy streams off her body like flames; this is nothing like the Avatar State he studied.
She speaks, and her voice echoes: “This is what you wanted, isn’t it, Amon? To come face to face with the most powerful being in the world?”

One is a Tarrlok that actually did get finished and published, but honestly, this version of the draft was SO MUCH more promising than the final version ended up turning out, and I’m still mad that I ruined it while I was rendering it:
I really liked how it was looking at this stage!!! But it wasn’t finished enough to publish like this. >:[ ARGHHH, maybe one day I’ll go back to this stage of it and try to finish it differently. Or just do a new Tarrlok.
